The influence of using military boots on the power of front kick

Title The influence of using military boots on the power of front kick Objectives The aim of this work is to identify and compare front kick while using military boots to front kick with no usage of those boots. Methods This bachelor work can be described as empirical and observational. A multicomponent force plate was used to detect the power of the front kick. The powers of the kick with the boots and without the boots were compared with the aid of a statistic method called paired t-test. Results In four cases the power of the front kick decreased by the influence of the boots, in one of these four cases was the declension statistically significant. In two cases was the power of the front kick increased due to usage of the boots, while in one of these cases was this increase statistically significant. The result of the interpersonal comparation was statistically insignificant. It was ascertained, that a previous experience with combat activities, which use kicking techniques, and also experience with usage of boots while kicking do affect the power of the front kick. However the results acquired by the measurement and statistical data processing cannot be generalized. Keywords close combat, front kick, military boots
Impact of gear and weaponry on muscle activation in the direct front kick

Title: The influence of equipment and arms on skeletal muscles activities while practising direct kick. Aim: The aim of this thesis was to find out the influence of carried equipment and arms on the activity of skeletal muscles when a direct front kick is being practised. The methods used: This thesis has an empirically observational character. Muscular activities were measured by means of surface electromyography synchronised by Qualisys screen system. To obtain statistic data, a t-test has been used, requiring 5 % significance level. Results: While carrying a 15-kilogram load, the activity of skeletal muscles was not significantly reduced when performing a direct front kick. However, a 30- kilogram load caused a substantial reduction of skeletal muscular activities during the kick described above. After adding a 15-kilogram bag to another 15 kilograms in the form of a body armour, a helmet and arms, the muscular activity changed its features in a considerable way. Furthermore, most respondents proved 45-kilogram load to be over their limit. The equipment and arms of that weight led to the summation action potential, exceeding the power- coordinative functional reserve, and thus the deformation of the direct front kick technique. Title: Effects of isokinetic strength and postural muscles on dynamic strength, velocity and angular velocity of a front kick with and no carried load. Objectives: The aim of the work was to find the effect of the isokinetic strength of hip and knee flexors and extensors of the lower limb performing a front kick, hip rotators during concentric and eccentric contraction of the standing lower limb and the postural muscles on dynamic forces, velocity and angular velocity of a front kick with and no carried load. Methods: This correlation study was conducted on 16 male participants (age: 22 ± 1,5 years⁏ weight: 79 ± 6,6 kg⁏ height: 182 ± 6,1 cm) studying military physical education at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of Charles University in Prague. Participants performed 5 consecutive front kicks with or without additional load (0 kg, 5 kg, 15 kg, 30 kg, 45 kg). The dynamic strength of the kicks was measured using a Kistler force plate. The velocity and angular velocity of the kicks were measured using a motion capture system (Qualisys). The isokinetic strength of hip and knee flexors and extensors and hip internal and external rotators were measured using a Humac Norm isokinetic dynamometer (CSMI). The influence of body armour on a direct front kick strenght

Title: The influence of body armour on a direct front kick strength Aim: The aim of the thesis was both to find out and compare the strength of a direct front kick made either with a ballistic vest or without it. Furthermore, the thesis focused on the strengths of a direct front kick made with a load-bearing vest compared to a ballistic vest. The methods used: The thesis can be characterised as an empiric work based on observation. The kick strength was measured by a dynamometer and the results have been statistically evaluated by a paired t-test. Results: The first part of the thesis, which was dealing with a direct front kick made with a ballistic vest or without it, resulted in the fact that there is a positive effect of using that kind of a vest. The kick strength was definitely more intensive using the ballistic vest. However, this can be claimed only in such ideal conditions which were available during the measurements. The probands were also not influenced by any physical strain, which is quite typical of martial activities. The second part focused on the differences using a ballistic or a training load-bearing vest when performing a direct front kick.
